So... it's that crazy shopping time of the year!? Did any of you head out to do any Black Friday shopping?? This is actually the first time in five years I have stayed home.? I needed absolutely nothing and there are no good craft stores nearby, so I decided to get some much needed sleep.
I am, however, taking advantage of the awesome deals online.? I bought some PDF sewing patterns as well as a few extra gifts for my daughter.? Plus, I am pretty certain my husband might have used that discount code I shared with him to purchase a fun crafty machine for me... we'll see!
Today, I have been browsing over at ConsumerCrafts.com because it's the last day of their Doorbuster Deals.? Plus, the ENTIRE site is 30% off!? I can always use more craft supplies {can't we all?} and I have my eye on several of their deals:
Yes... I have a Cricut, but I have been wanting one of these Silhouette Cameo machines for quite a while.? They don't require cartridges at all. Instead, simply connect the Silhouette Cameo to your computer and choose your designs.? You only purchase and download the specific designs you want {plus, I've seen some nice free ones floating around}.? The possibilities are limitless, really.? Ever since I used Angela's Cuttlebug, I have been smitten.? This handy little machine easily embosses paper, adding texture to scrapbook pages, cards, and other paper projects.? It's fun and easy to use {though a bit heavy}.? I know we could come up with all sorts of creative ways to use this! Raileigh loves dressing up more than just about anything else.? Well... besides reading.? But, then again, she will often read while dressed up!? So, many of her Christmas gifts revolve around those two things!? I was blown away when I saw these fairy wings.? They are less than $2!? I don't know is you've shopped for fairy wings before, but that is a steal! For the past several years, we have had the same Christmas mantle-- an assortment of snow globes we've collected over the years.? However, a lot of those snow globes are now over 10 years old.? And, just in case you didn't know-- snow globes don't age well.? They now contain snow globs instead of snow flakes and the pieces inside many have shifted.? This year, I plan on laying some fresh garland, and I think this 5-piece votive set would look lovely sitting amongst the garland. Raileigh enjoys puppets.? She'll crouch beside the chair while I work and put on puppet shows for me.? This darling kit would be a fun seasonal craft for us, and it would be one she'd enjoy playing with afterwards as well!? I highly suspect that Rudolph and Bumble might be part of puppet shows year round at my house!
I also want to share a few other special sales and exciting announcements you might be interested in.
Currently, there is a Silhouette Cameo GIVEAWAY going on at Crafts Unleashed {the Consumer Crafts blog}.? It ends in a few days, so enter now!
Canson Art Pads are Buy One Get One FREE through today.
The Cricut Expression Version 1 {the one I currently own} is available in a bundle with FOUR cartridges for just $199.97
I encourage you to head on over to Consumer Crafts and see all of the amazing deals they have on craft supplies.? Remember-- the doorbuster deals end today.? Plus, since it's Cyber Monday, the ENTIRE site is 30% off!? What are you waiting for?? Go load up that online shopping cart and start crafting!
Are you going to take advantage of a Cyber Monday sale to get your holiday crafting started? Tell me about what YOU'RE going to make!
Stay in touch with Consumer Crafts so you never miss out on any great sales like these!
Disclosure: I wrote this post as part of a paid campaign with Consumer Crafts and Blueprint Social. The opinions in this post are my own.

ScienceDaily (Nov. 8, 2012) ? Decades of extreme weather crippled, and ultimately decimated, first the political culture and later the human population of the ancient Maya, according to a new study by an interdisciplinary team of researchers that includes two University of California, Davis, scientists.
The collapse of the Maya is one of the world's most enduring mysteries. Now, for the first time, researchers have combined a precise climatic record of the Maya environment with a precise record of Maya political history to provide a better understanding of the role weather had in the civilization's downfall.
Their findings are published in the Nov. 9, 2012 issue of the journal Science.
"Here you had an amazing state-level society that had created calendars, magnificent architecture, works of art, and was engaged in trade throughout Central America," said UC Davis anthropology professor and co-author Bruce Winterhalder. "They were incredible craftspersons, proficient in agriculture, statesmanship and warfare -- and within about 80 years, it fell completely apart."
To determine what was happening in the sociopolitical realm during each of those years, the study tapped the extensive Maya Hieroglyphic Database Project, run by UC Davis Native American Language Center director and linguist Martha Macri, a specialist in Mayan hieroglyphs who has been tracking the culture's stone monuments for nearly 30 years.
"Every one of these Maya monuments is political history," said Macri.
Inscribed on each monument is the date it was erected and dates of significant events, such as a ruler's birthday or accession to power, as well as dates of some deaths, burials and major battles. The researchers noted that the number of monuments carved decreased in the years leading to the collapse.
But the monuments made no mention of ecological events, such as storms, drought or references to crop successes or failures.
For that information, the research team collected a stalagmite from a cave in Belize, less than 1 mile from the Maya site of Uxbenka and about 18 miles from three other important centers. Using oxygen isotope dating in 0.1 millimeter increments along the length of the stalagmite, the scientists uncovered a physical record of rainfall over the past 2,000 years.
Combined, the stalagmite and hieroglyphs allowed the researchers to link precipitation to politics. Periods of high and increasing rainfall coincided with a rise in population and political centers between 300 and 660 AD. A climate reversal and drying trend between 660 and 1000 AD triggered political competition, increased warfare, overall sociopolitical instability, and finally, political collapse. This was followed by an extended drought between 1020 and 1100 AD that likely corresponded with crop failures, death, famine, migration and, ultimately, the collapse of the Maya population.
"It has long been suspected that weather events can cause a lot of political unrest and subject societies to disease and invasion," Macri said. "But now it's clear. There is physical evidence that correlates right along with it. We are dependent on climatological events that are beyond our control."
Said Winterhalder: "It's a cautionary tale about how fragile our political structure might be. Are we in danger the same way the Classic Maya were in danger? I don't know. But I suspect that just before their rapid descent and disappearance, Maya political elites were quite confident about their achievements."

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ? In Maryland, several key ballot issues drew voters to the polls in high numbers. One of the most hotly contested was expanded gambling, which pulled out a victory early Wednesday morning.
Jessica Kartalija has the latest on the battle over expanded gambling here in Maryland.
Fifty-two percent of voters are in favor of expanded gambling and 48 percent are against. Supporters say expanded gambling will keep more money in our state, create jobs and give money to education.
At National Harbor, those in support of Question 7 gathered to see the results of the election. That?s also where they want to see a new casino built.
As Marylanders went to the polls, politicians worked to sway those still up in the air on Question 7.
?For us, Question 7 is making sure we keep revenue in the state of Maryland,? said Prince George?s County Executive Rushern Baker.
With multi-million dollar ad campaigns on both sides, politicians hit polling places in the 11th hour.
?I just think it?s critically important for Maryland to step up to keep Maryland money here in Maryland and not in West Virginia, to support our neighbors in Prince George?s County but really for all over the state,? said Howard County Executive Ken Ulman.
?They just say this one thing over and over again that there are going to be more money for schools and you?re going to believe it, but I think most people know by now that?s not the case,? said Marta Mossburg, Public Policy Institute.
Question 7 allows for additional slot machines, adds table games in addition to those slots and allows a sixth casino to be built at National Harbor in Prince George?s County.
That casino at National Harbor would be similar to what you?d see at Atlantic City or Las Vegas.

Security officials identified the men as CIA agents, and Mexican investigators have said the attack may have been carried out by corrupt police working with drug gangs.
The incident, which police first blamed on a case of mistaken identity, was the worst attack against US officials in?Mexico?since drug gang hit men killed a US immigration agent and wounded his colleague in a highway attack in early 2011.
Mexico's attorney general said police were likely to be prosecuted for the ambush of the two agents as they traveled in a vehicle with diplomatic plates on a road south of?Mexico City.
"At the moment everything points to the fact that there will be people to charge," said attorney general?Maries Morales. "We're now carefully analyzing the conduct of each officer to ascertain what exactly they can be charged with."
The CIA has declined to comment on the incident. Mexican authorities have detained 14 people in connection with the case.
